Starting off this post with a screenshot of the email I got from the Google Adsense program yesterday😋
So this is the first post I’ll be publishing directly under the how bloggers make money online series, if you don’t know what that means then you might want to click that link to find out now.
Hello there, greetings… imthatBabs 😎 and this is my blog where I publish stuff on business. thoughts. lifestyle and more.
New here? Then start by reading about me. I’m sure you’ll find that page useful.
Alright alright, can we get into this post already? I know, I know.. I feel the same way too.
So as mentioned in the post I linked up above (that’s the introduction to the series BTW) I’ve seen, heard so many people say real dumb sturv* about how bloggers make money online…
… and as a blogger making reasonable income online, I just wanted to clear the air on the topic.
This series isn’t for newbies alone, if you already run a blog you’ll also learn from the post in this series cause I’ll be revealing a few of the tricks I have up my sleeves and of course my favorite make money online hacks…
So stay tuned and lets dive in.
What is CPC Affiliate Marketing?
First of, CPC and affiliate marketing are two different things however they do complement each other.
CPC affiliate marketing is a type (form) of affiliate marketing.
There are other types such as CPA which stands for “Cost per action“, CPS which stands for “Cost per sale“, CPC on it’s own… the one we’re talking about today stands for “Cost per click“.
So as for affiliate marketing, if you don’t know what that means that would be your assignment.
The best part? You can do that right away so here’s how to get started.
- Go to Google.com
- Then type in the query “what is affiliate marketing?” without quotes.
- Read at least any 2 of the articles, resource on the first page of the search results.
That’s it. That’s how you should learn from now on.
You should have a good grasp of what affiliate marketing is from that little task. Pumped and ready to go?
What is Google Adsense?
Google adsense which can be accessed on Google.com/adsense is Google’s own program where advertisers go to buy ads based on click terms and publishers apply to place ads from advertisers on their site.
I’m not sure if I explained that very well but if you click the link above to get to Google’s site, you can read everything even see the video they have on the site homepage to get a quick rundown of everything.
Stay with me first, so here’s how it goes down in steps:
- You have to apply for an account which is sort of difficult to get approval as a Nigerian but it’s definitely not impossible to get approval.
- Once approved, select the type of ads you want to go live on your site as there are different types.
- Add the codes to your website.
- Then the highest paying ads goes live on your blog as Google claims.
It’s that easy.
So when those ads are on your site. Examples of different sizes above and if visitors on your site clicks them Google records it in your Adsense account and pays you what advertisers offered to pay per click.
Of course they take their share too but they have a system in place that handles everything 🙂
So Why Google Adsense?
“Okay so I work with Google”.
“Hey, so just watch, Google will send my paycheck anytime from now.”
“So I’m a Google Adsense publisher”. How’d those sound? Great eh? First there’s the excitement of working with a brand like Google. Of course it’s not only you so don’t get all wired up.
Google works with over 2 million publishers across the galaxy. LOL maybe that went too far..
Should I say across the globe or whatever.
You get the point eh? Most of your favorite blogs here in Nigeria works or has worked with Adsense at a time..
I’m talking LIB, Pulse.ng and others.
So apart from the excitement that comes from working with Google’s Adsense program…
There’s also this ease of use and overall smart monetization strategy since you get paid by clicks and at the end of the month the money is collectively deposited into your account where you can withdraw and put it to smart Use 😀
With Adsense you just sign up, place ads on your site and as the clicks come in, your money goes uuuuuuuuuuuuup.
Also it’s a trusted program so you’re good to go.
Are There Any Alternatives to Google Adsense?
Remember the make money method we’re talking about here is CPC affiliate marketing not Google Adsense.
Google Adsense is just perhaps the best example we can find.
One that perfectly describes the CPC affiliate marketing monetization strategy.
Remember I mentioned that approval for Nigerians is quite hard but then not impossible.
So are there other alternatives? Sites, programs that lets you make money by placing banner ads on your site on CPC basis?
Of course there are but in my honest, in the five years setting up blogs and marketing online generally..
I’ve not seen or tried a program better than Adsense in this category however these alternatives are very okay.
- Infolinks.com (Kinda different but same model)
- Adquet.com and so on.
If you do some research you should find other programs like Adsense but keep in mind what I mentioned above.
Thanks for reading to this point.
Uhm in the next post based on the series how bloggers make money online.. We’ll be looking the CPS based monetization programs (One of my favorites) so stay tuned guys.
Hope y’all have gained something and the perspective is beginning to change.
